Open Doors
For all kinds of reasons, many people find it difficult to access the help they need: bad experiences, lack of awareness, agency, confidence, structure or means. We’re passionate about promoting better outcomes for people in our communities who are marginalised, disadvantaged or excluded.
Open Doors creates a space where people can tell their story and then be supported to access the help or opportunities that exist both within the church and through statutory and third sector organisation’s. Each guest is guided through a structured needs assessment which helps to identify the key areas of need. The link volunteer then works with the person or family to help identify the relevant support and to encourage (and facilitate where necessary) engagement with it.
Local statutory and third sector organisations are invited to attend some of the sessions in a clinic format. We believe that this collaborative, asset-based approach promotes and strengthens joined up working amongst support providers and most importantly, promotes better outcomes for those for whom the outlook could otherwise be quite bleak.
